As Project Director (2015–2016), I pioneered Pakistan’s first data-to-policy transition on Healthcare Violence. Partnering with ICRC, JSMU, and SZABIST, our team’s research informed the Sindh Act on Violence Prevention, setting a precedent for evidence-based legislative reform in public health.
Between 2018 and 2021, I led a pioneering Verbal and Social Autopsy (VASA) investigation into under-five child mortality in Karachi, uncovering the biological and social pathways behind preventable deaths. As Principal Investigator, I designed the methodology, supervised data collection across urban and peri-urban sites, and guided the analytical synthesis. The study produced actionable evidence shaping policy dialogues on child survival, health equity, and system responsiveness in Pakistan.

Since 1999, I have serving my efforts as a core lead in the establishment of Pakistan’s National Child-Mortality Registry. In this capacity I guided the design and deployment of a high-quality, mixed-methods data system which tracked neonatal, infant and under-five mortality across provinces, hospitals and community‐settings. The registry’s insights underpinned policy action, informed resource allocation decisions, and helped strengthen the country’s capability to monitor progress toward the Sustainable Development Goal of ending preventable child deaths.
